About the Book

If you’re desperate for biblically based guidance, encouragement, and hope, you’ll find what you’re looking for in this courageous, powerful book.

Rebecca Mitchell’s own marriage crumbled after twenty-five years, and she went through every stage of grief. Her journey to healing led to a conviction that others could be helped in the same way: through engaged community, biblical self-care, and compassionate reflective practices. And the women she’s helped guide down their own paths to restoration agree.

This unique book covers topics such as depression, loneliness, forgiveness, hope, and even joy. Each of the twelve chapters includes five days of devotionals and journaling questions. You’ll learn to maintain hope for healing, to be patient with the time recovery takes, to be committed to community, and, above all, to seek God. With Mitchell’s wise encouragement, you’ll discover that brokenness is a stage, not an identity.

Heartfelt and inspiring, "From Broken Vows to Healed Hearts" shows us that even in darkness our light still shines. She illuminates the ever-present power of God in our lives and the blessed gift of finding Him, and ourselves, through our journeys of struggle and despair. Mitchell's writing is beautiful and gentle, connecting with those in all stages of divorce. Her prayers set this devotional apart, saying for us what we can't articulate in our pain and grief. This book is like an enlightened companion, full of just the right resources. Lessons are aplenty, my favorite being the one that encourages us to ask for what we need. The journaling topics are insightful, and she poses questions you will actually want to explore and ponder. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone in the divorce process, as every chapter will lead to healing.
