Inspire Christian Writers is thrilled to be holding our first ever online Summer Symposium.

This event will be happening August 28th and 29th and will be featuring several leading figures in the Christian writing world. THE SYMPOSIUM IS OPEN TO BOTH MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS of Inspire.

We are especially excited to have Francine Rivers with us again for this event as well as other bestselling authors, and some of the top agents in the industry, including Steve Laube (Steve Laube Agency), Wendy Lawton (Books & Such), and Karen Neumair (Credo Communications).

What Is It?

The Symposium is NOT an online conference. But our goal is to provide you with an online, live version of the most “interactive” bits of a traditional writer’s conference. Elements will include pitch sessions, round tables, coaching, written critiques, prep sessions, and one-off critique groups.

All “meetings” will be held online in private rooms using Zoom (or similar). There will be NO RECORDINGS of these sessions made available to the public.

The faculty includes industry professionals and experts; successful, award-winning authors; and some of the leading Christian literary agents in the U.S.


When Is It?

The event will be held during the day on Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th. Not all faculty members are available both days. Some activities/sessions will be held during the week prior to the Symposium (e.g. critiques, prep sessions).

For Session times, all times will be stated in Pacific Daylight Time/PDT.

What Types of Sessions Will There Be?

Probably the most central Session Type will the Roundtables, which are small group Q&A sessions with a faculty member. Pitch Sessions are 1:1 meetings with a literary agent and Prep Sessions (to be held prior to the symposium) will help prepare you for a Pitch Session. We will also be offering 1:1 Coaching/Consultations, Written Critiques, and Critique Groups.

Note: Not all faculty members will be taking part in all session types but it is anticipated that every faculty member will be participating in at least one Roundtable session.


How Much Is It?

There is NO GENERAL REGISTRATION FEE, you simply pay for each session that you want to attend. The cost of a session depends on the type of session:

  • Roundtable: $30.00
  • Pitch Session: $54.00
  • 1:1 Coaching/Consultation: $70.00
  • Prep Session: $49.00
  • Written Critique: $35.00
  • Critique Group: $35.00

How Will the Sessions Take Place?

All sessions will be held via Zoom (or similar) except or the written critiques, which will be completely carried out by email. Critique groups will be a combination of email and a Zoom meeting.


Will Recordings of the Sessions Be Made Available?

NO. There will be no recordings of any sessions made available to the public or for sale to non-attendees.


How Can I Book My Sessions?

Bookings are now open and are offered on an à la carte basis and will be just like your normal experience shopping on an online store. THERE IS NO GENERAL REGISTRATION FEE. (See below for closing dates for bookings, as they vary depending on the type of session.)

If a faculty member will be participating in more than one of any particular type of session, you will be able to click on a “Select Options” button to select the particular Date/Time of the session you want to attend with that faculty member.

YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO PURCHASE ONE TICKET FOR A PARTICULAR TYPE OF SESSION
WITH A PARTICULAR FACULTY MEMBER.
So, for example, you will only be able to purchase one ticket for a roundtable with Francine Rivers

but you could purchase another ticket for a roundtable with Lindsay A. Franklin.

Spaces and Sessions are limited, so book early!

When Do Bookings Close?

  • For Roundtables, Pitch Sessions, and Coaching/Consultations, bookings will close at midnight on Tuesday, August 25th.
  • For Written Critiques, bookings will close at midnight on Saturday, August 22nd.
  • For Critique Groups, bookings will close at midnight on Thursday, August 20th.
