Community, Connection, and Competence

Happy New Year!

The end of 2017 saw a lot of wonderful and exciting changes for Inspire. Our newest (and incredibly accomplished!) Board members round out a fantastic team … and we’re ready to serve our membership in some innovative ways. Inspire’s buzzwords for 2018 are “community, connection, and competence,” and we’re taking them seriously.

  • Community: As authors, our writing journeys are often a bit of a solitary experience, but the relationships and we form along the way often lead to much-needed encouragement and the sharing of important industry information. To leverage that precious interpersonal resource, Inspire will be focusing on increasing opportunities to meet local writers and industry experts, from casual regional Pop-Up gatherings to more formal workshops and learning events. Our first Pop-Up gathering will be January 12th in Citrus Heights.
  • Connection: We’re increasing and developing our online communities, too, so every Inspire member, no matter how remote, will have a place to meet, pray with, and learn from other writers. Check out our website and Facebook pages to be a part of these communities.
  • Competence: But what’s all that connection worth without a little competence, as well? To address that, we’ll be hitting 2018 hard with numerous in-person and online opportunities to develop your writing skills. Look for more workshops, the West Coast Christian Writer’s LIT One-Day Intensive, and an increasing library of online resources just for Inspire Members.

We’re also in the process of developing an online resource bank of a variety of industry professionals to help you along the way. From writing coaches to editors, web developers to self-publishing professionals, and marketing gurus to cover designers, we’ll soon be launching a directory of experts to help you with every aspect of writing and publishing. If that wasn’t enough, each expert will be offering a significant discount to active Inspire members.

Bonus: We’re looking to expand our array of conference and workshop discounts, too, so that top industry resources like Mt. Hermon, WCCW, and SoCalcwc, are even more affordable.

The whole Board of Inspire is thrilled to be a part of your writing journey, and we’re looking forward to 2018, expecting that God is going to be doing some powerful things through your writing.

Blessings!
